Free Volunteer Scheduling for Nonprofits

A privacy-first, ad-free alternative to spreadsheets, group texts, and typical sign-up sites.

Stop chasing volunteers. Give your nonprofit, church, school, or club a simple, self-service schedule your people will actually use — they claim and cancel their own spots, and the schedule keeps itself organized. No ads, no per-volunteer fees, and your data stays yours.

The old way vs. a self-service schedule

Most volunteer coordinators are stuck between two frustrations: a spreadsheet or group text that only one person can keep straight, or a free sign-up website that puts ads in front of their volunteers. Here's how those compare with a purpose-built, ad-free option.

Spreadsheet & group texts Typical free sign-up sites At Your Services
Volunteers sign up & cancel themselves ✗ you edit for them ✓ ✓
Prevents over- & under-staffing (capacity limits) ✗ varies ✓ per-activity limits + live counts
One login covers a family or group ✗ often no ✓
Role-based privacy (see only your own sign-ups) ✗ everyone sees everything limited ✓ enforced on the server
Confirmations & shift reminders (with calendar file) ✗ manual varies ✓ automatic email + .ics, with a "Can't make it?" link
Printable / CSV check-in rosters re-typed by hand varies ✓
Day-of check-in (who actually came) ✗ rare ✓ front-desk tablet or phone → check-in hours
Changing who is on a shift without erasing the record overwrite the cell — that someone was down and did not come is simply gone usually a delete, which loses the same thing ✓ drop-outs come off before the shift and are emailed; day-of walk-ins are added over the maximum, so a no-show is never deleted to make room
Volunteer-hours, impact & capacity reports ✗ manual tally rare ✓ hours, economic value, fill rate — for grants
Ending a program keeps the hours already earned only via file history or a backup varies — often deleted for good ✓ past shifts stay readable and keep reporting until normal retention ages them out
Record of who deleted or changed what file revision history at best rare ✓ tamper-evident audit trail of deletes, role changes & cancellations
No third-party ads shown to volunteers n/a often ad-supported ✓ never
Your organization's branding ✗ limited ✓ name, colors, logo
Cost free, but all-manual free tier; ads or paid upgrades free software; optional low-cost managed hosting

Frequently asked questions

Is At Your Services really free?

The software is free to use. If you'd like us to host and manage it for you, that's available at pass-through infrastructure cost — and setup and onboarding for small nonprofits are provided free of charge. Just ask.

Do volunteers need to download an app?

No. It runs in any phone or computer web browser. Volunteers sign up and cancel their own spots from a link — nothing to install.

Will my volunteers see ads?

Never. There is no third-party advertising anywhere in the app. The page is your organization's, not a billboard for someone else's.

Can one person sign up their whole family or group?

Yes. A single account can cover a family or a group, so a parent can sign up their kids or a group leader their whole crew.

Does it send confirmations and reminders?

Yes. Every volunteer with an email gets a reminder about a day before each shift, with an add-to-calendar (.ics) file and a "Can't make it?" link that drops the shift without signing in — so the spot opens up for someone else instead of going empty on the day. Volunteers can turn reminders off in their profile, and your organization can make them opt-in instead. Sign-up and cancellation confirmations are optional: volunteers choose per sign-up or set a default (send automatically, ask each time, or off) in their profile.

Can we use our own name and branding?

Yes. Your organization's name, colors, and logo — and even the terminology (the "Job" label) is configurable to fit your world.

Is our data private and secure?

Yes. Role-based access means volunteers see only their own sign-ups, and the app uses hashed passwords, expiring sessions, rate limiting, and server-side access control over HTTPS. No ads, and no selling of your data.
